ACHMAD SOEBARDJO

initially, his father gave him name Teuku abdul manaf, but his mother gave him name ahmad soebardjo.

         

Djojoadisoerjo was added by himself after he was arrested and imprisoned in ponogoro prison because of his involvement with "jully 3, 1946 incident".

        

ahmad soebardjo was born in teluk jambe, karawang regency, west java, on 23 march 1896. His father name was teuku muhammad yusuf an acehnese patrician from pidie. his paternal granfather was an ulama and his father was the chief of police in teluk jambe, karawang. His mother name was wardinah. she was of javanese buginese descent. and was doughterfrom camat in teluk agung.

         

He studied at hogere burger school, jakarta in 1917. he continued toleiden university, netherland and obtained the degree meester in de rechten title in the field oflaw in 1933.

on 19 agustus 1945, two days after the proclamation of indonesia soekarna appointed soebardjoas minister of foreign affairs of the presidential cabinet.

soebardjo died at age pf 82 at pertamina hospital, kebayoran baru from influenza complication. he was buried at his vacation home in cipayung, bogor. in 2009 the government honoured him as a national hero
